Q What Can Be Repaired?
A. Auto Glass Champ can repair chips the size of a dime or quarter, and long cracks - up to 8 inches long! If your windshield was hit by a rock on the freeway, the chances are the damage can be repaired if caught early enough.

Q Damage that cannot be Repaired?
A. If the windshield was struck by a golf ball or anything larger than a stone, you will most likely need a replacement. If the long crack is spreading in all directions and is larger than a quarter it cannot be repaired. Cracks can be repaired up to 18 inches long providing they are single line cracks. The crack can curve but must be one single line crack to be repairable.

Q The Process?
A. Auto Glass Champ will set an appointment and send a specially trained technician to your house or office to do the repair. The repair process involves injecting a scientifically formulated resin into the crack. The resin is cured under Ultra Violet light and the whole process takes just 20-30 minutes depending upon the type and size of the damage. The car can be driven immediately after the repair and needs no further special treatment.

Q How does it Look?
A. The crack should look 50-95% less noticeable, depending upon how long the damage has been there, and the type and size of the damage. Cosmetic results may vary.

Q I Lease this Vehicle can I repair the crack and return the vehicle?
A. To prevent being charged for a new windshield, make sure any chips are repaired before you turn in a leased vehicle. Some leasing inspectors refer people to Auto Glass Champ to ensure their windshield passes the inspection.

Q Does Insurance Cover This?

Q How long does a windshield installation take?
A. Generally a windshield installation will take two hours from start to finish. There is up to 1 hour of installation time and 1 hour of "curing" time. Curing time is the amount of time it takes the urethane adhesive that holds the windshield in place to dry to the FMVSS 216. No vehicle will be allowed to drive away without proper drying time.

Q What is OEM?
A. OEM or Original Equipment Manufacturer simply means the parts are certified to be genuine manufacturer parts. This means the glass will be the same as what came out of your vehicle. In regards to replacing glass with another brand makes no difference at all. Collective cars may want OEM parts to retain originality of the vehicle, for the rest of us all glass is AS-1 certified and is guaranteed to fit correctly every time.

Q If I make an auto glass claim on my comprehensive coverage will my rates increase?
A. While only your insurer can answer this question for you, we have found that most insurers do not or cannot adjust an individual policy holder's rates because of comprehensive glass claims.

Q Can a windshield be installed in bad weather?
A. WIn some cases yes. Your Auto Glass Champ installation expert will determine if the weather is too bad to install your glass. Heavy rain, snow, cold weather, or high winds may jeopardize the installation of your windshield so if you have any doubts please ask.

Q Can the work be performed in a parking garage?
A. Office buildings do not usually pose problems for our installers. We can make arrangements to work in most downtown parking garages. Special arrangements may need to be made with attendant.

If you call your insurer first, your insurer will provide you with a process to adjust your claim. If you want Auto Glass Champ to perform your services, it will be necessary to firmly request Auto Glass Champ.

Q What types of Auto Glass damage are covered by insurance?
A. Auto glass damages from all causes are covered by insurance. Auto glass damage resulting from road hazards and vandalism is covered by the comprehensive section of your insurance, while damage caused by moving vehicle accidents is covered by the collision section. Insurance covers all the glass in your car, not just the windshield.

Q Does the insurance company pay Auto Glass Champ or do I pay you and submit your bill to my insurer?
A. As courtesy to our customers we bill your insurance company directly. You are only responsible for your deductible, if any, at the time of service. Deductible too high? We can work with you and cover most if not all your deductible so there is No Cost To You.

Q Which insurers waive comprehensive deductible when a windshield is repaired rather than replaced?
A. Most insurers have programs to waive comprehensive deductibles for windshield repair. You may talk to a Auto Glass Champ representative at 888-11-Glass, without obligation, to determine your insurer's windshield repair policies.

Q Is Auto Glass Champ a "participating vendor" with most insurers?
A. Yes. Most insurers use third party "networks" or "brokers" to adjust auto glass claims. Auto Glass Champ is a participant in good standing with most insurers and networks. However, since most of the networks are owned by competing auto glass companies, it is often necessary for the insured to request Auto Glass Champ.

Q Does the type of glass installed matter?
A. There is a difference between OEM replacement glass and after-market replacement glass. OEM replacement glass must meet quality inspections so that the glass will fit your vehicle like the original glass installed by the manufacturer.

Q What is OEM?
A. Original Equipment Manufacturer. These manufacturers supply the auto-makers directly. This means that OEM replacement windshields are made to look and fit like the original equipment, with the same safety features. Certain controls must be met in the manufacturing process and quality inspections met. In essence, you are getting the highest windshield quality available for your vehicle.

Q "Glass is glass," isn't it?
A. No. After-market manufacturers might be cheaper, but in the end you will pay for the lower standards of quality. You will find higher incidences of scratches, glass with air bubbles, inconsistencies in the edging, and a bumpy contour. We don't even like the hassle of trying to install these windshields, which is why we don't use them.

Q Do you know your breakage rate?
A. The quality of your installation can affect the life of your windshield. Lower quality installations result in you having to replace the windshield more often. The national average breakage rate is about 6%.

Q My purchasing department insists on going with the cheapest bid....does this make economic sense?
A. Pay now, or pay later. Chances are, you won't be saving money in the long run. Hidden costs to factor in are: vehicle down time, higher breakage rates, slower service response time, unreliable service.

Q All of my claims have to be sent through a leasing/maintenance management company. Can you still help?
A. Many fleet managers believe that they must use their maintenance company to handle their claims. But if your vehicles are currently being maintained through an outside source, Auto Glass Champ is an authorized supplier for many leasing and maintenance companies. We handle all the paperwork for the claim with your leasing or maintenance management company. If you call us directly, we can provide the service call within hours.
